Welcome from the Chair

At our department, students receive a balanced and inclusive education based on intellectual, methodological and societal diversity. Our undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programmes are organised around four main subfields: comparative politics, international relations, political theory, and Turkish politics. In addition to introductory courses that aim to establish a strong foundation in Political Science, we offer a wide range of specialised courses that encourage students to explore contemporary issues such as regime trajectories, socio-political movements, regional and global transformations, the political economy of development, human rights, gender (in)equality, and identity politics. These topics are explored both in relation to Türkiye and within broader regional and international contexts.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated and diverse faculty who offer a rich selection of elective courses. This allows students to gradually specialise in areas that reflect their academic interests and professional goals. We believe that mutual respect, close mentorship and constructive discourse are key to effective learning.

We hope that our graduates will leave the department with excellent academic and professional skills, as well as a sense of social responsibility, ethical awareness and intellectual humility. Our objective is to support them in finding and thriving in their careers, whether in academia, public service, international organisations, civil society, or the private sector.
