As a large department with a limited number of full-time faculty members, the Political Science and International Relations Dept. urges students to attend to the following instructions so as to improve efficiency and ease the time-pressure on faculty.
I. Online registration, course program approval, add-drop
Students should address all practical or technical questions to registration assistants. These questions include problems with the online registration system or with the registrar’s office, questions concerning petition forms, or course conflicts, etc.
Advisors will respond to questions concerning specific academic difficulties, decisions as to which course to take, and problems related to overload or repeating status.
Please note that the registration assistant of an advisor may not be the same person as the academic assistant of the instructor.

II. Research and teaching assistants
After registration, all technical or practical questions concerning the courses taught by instructors should be addressed to their academic assistants. These questions include how to get the reading pack, exam results, and make-up dates, etc.
Every faculty member holds an office hour at a specific time during the week. Students are requested not to send e-mails concerning academic questions related to the courses but instead to get an appointment from the instructor to discuss this in person with him or her.
